Holywell Pupils Climb Everest in a Day

Pupils on the mobile climbing wall.

The staff and pupils of Holywell managed to reach the top of Everest (8844m) a few minutes before the end of the school day. In fact, they climbed an extra 364 metres! A total of 384 individual climbs were completed during the challenge.

Luckily we had fantastic weather all day long. At first sight, many of the children looked worried when they saw the 8.2m high climbing wall in the playground. I have to admit, it did look like quite a daunting challenge, even for the long arms and legs of an adult. However, after climbing the tower many children wanted to have a second go!

A big thank you to everyone who helped make the day happen. Special thanks to Peter Collinson, Dean Duncan, Katy Harris, Sara Linderman, Stuart Malcomson, Vicky Smyth, Alan Wills and Kevin Brooks.
