Three Peaks Challenge

At Jenny's wedding last year a group of her friends decided to tackle the Three Peaks Challenge to raise funds for the KJ Trust.

This Easter, they completed the first of the three peaks. The intrepid group climbed to the summit of Snowdon on Easter Sunday.

The weather turned out to be unusually wintery. Snow earlier in the week, coupled with the threat of strong winds and thunderstorms, meant it was impossible to tackle the climb on the Saturday as originally planned; so the group decided to tackle the lower level Cnicht instead. This may be a smaller mountain, but it is still a tough climb.

Easter Sunday looked to be better weather, but it was still uncertain what the conditions would be like on higher ground. A small group set out to get as far as they could, half expecting to have to turn back due to ice.

Two and a half hours later, with lots of pitstops and icicles in their hair, they made it to the summit. It was a really difficult climb, at times the walkers were completely blinded by snow and hill fog that made the going really tough.

The group is looking forward to the next peak, Scafell Pike, on June 19th. Hopefully the weather will be kinder next time!

The group would like to pass on a big thank you to everyone who pledged sponsorship at the Ceilidh. We will keep you updated with the groups progress through the website.
