The staff and pupils of Holywell managed to reach the top of Everest (8844m) a few minutes before the end of the school day. In fact, they climbed an extra 364 metres! A total of 384 individual climbs were completed during the challenge.
We will be at Holywell Primary School, where Kathy was a teacher for many years, on Friday 16th June running a sponsored climb. The aim of the day is for the pupils to climb the equivalent height of Everest during the school day; a formidable task indeed.
The sponsored walk was good fun, everyone had an enjoyable time. The weather was a little overcast, but improved as the day went on.
During the walk, we saw a Herron fly over the Grand Union Canal, past a shimmering lake and walked through beautiful woodland over run with bluebells.
The Trust is holding a 5 mile sponsored walk starting from the Coy Carp Pub carpark in Harefield, starting at 10:00am, on the 14th May.
The walk follows the Grand Union Canal for about 2.5 miles and then climbs to Harefield Village, with beautiful views of the surrounding area. The walk finishes at the Coy Carp just in time for lunch.
